Have you ever looked forward to something and been totally let down when it finally came your way? That's exactly what happened here. We got to the venue for about midday and wasn't due on stage till 10pm. With at least 10 hours to spare I spent the day mingling with the crowd of fifty or so. As the day went on, more people came to the show and by the end of the day, there was about 400 plus, which was a let down cosidering the place could hold about 6,000.
The promoter explained that they did all their promotion on the net to save promotional costs so I guess that explains it. We were underfed throughtout the whole day with myself only getting a few olives and a bottle of water. The host of the event took the piss and got his crew on stage in between every change over and the domino effect spiralled out of control. We ended up not getting on stage till just before 1am, 13 hours after we got there, with a few olives and a bottle of water for nutrition all day. The final straw was when one of the promoters approached me just as I was walking on stage and suggested that we do not get paid because we have not stuck to our contracted time and are going on stage way later than we were supposed to. I'm not going to say much else about this but hope the pictures will tell the complete story.
A potentially great day was spoiled by a lack of understanding of how an event of this size should be run. At least they apologised and finally paid the wages in exchange for the cordless mic that mysteriously ended up in my pocket.
