THE LION GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH (double lp)
Some say his methods were a little unorthodox, and they were right. In the middle of major personal dramas, he managed to maintain focus enough to see the project completed.
Before recording of this, his first complete album, a double at that, he was somehow able to convince punters to part with their money to help with the recording of the album and in return they would not only receive the album, but also a limited edition 7".
True to his word, and after receiving just short of 2000 orders in advance, BLADE was able to complete the project, add to that 2000 limited edition white vinyl copies of a 12" single, along with a lyric booklet with pictures and names of all who helped finance the album, everybody who sent the money in advance. He went on to sell 12,000 copies of this LP, selling mostly at shows and on the streets, and only supplying shops he believed would push the material to the general public. This helped to take his overall sales figures to a whopping 42,000 units.
There were 20 copies of this album pressed on white vinyl, sealed and given to BLADE's friends, the ones who either were involved in the project or who had at some point brought him food when they knew he was not eating. If you look hard enough on the net, you'll eventually find that one very avid fan from Japan paid £1000 for a sealed mint copy to one of the 20 who were fortunate enough to be given this by BLADE.
