STORMS ARE BREWING (double album)

After the success of THE UNKNOWN, there were a lot of changes to the structure of WORD PLAY, the label behind the MARK B & BLADE project. WORD PLAY had now closed down and BLADE was moved to VIRGIN, a place where he felt he would never fit in. He made these feelings be known to his manager. He was happy to have finally been picked up by a major label, but at the same time, he wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. To cut a long story short, BLADE and VIRGIN bosses had different ideas about the project, a few meetings were had, and BLADE was out of the deal and back to doing this all independently again.

He called in live musicans ranging from drummers to a string section, and took a new direction with his recordings. He'd always wanted to work with live musicians and had now got the opporunity to. The album was actually completed by mid 2002, but due to politics between label and artist, the project was delayed, BLADE sent back to record new material and eventually released from his deal much to BLADE'S consent. After all the dilly dallying, plans for release were put into action and the first single "BLOW YOU OUT OF THE FRAME", saw the light of day in October 2003.

Soon after, BLADE signed a distribution deal for the singles and album to follow. Everything was looking promising when the deal was sealed in February 2004. Dates were penned in for the releases and the media and radio promotion set in motion.

Unfortunately, three weeks after the release of the album in March 2004, 3MV, the distributor, declared bankruptcy and all the records were soon taken off the shelves and no monies was receeived by BLADE for the 6000 records/cds already out there.

This was a bit of a shock at first, but there were a few things still going on that gave BLADE reason to look to the future with a smile on his face regardless of this massive blow. THE SAGA CONTINUES ........
