POP IDOL / SCREAM (Limited Edition 12" Single)
This was planned to be the second single to be released from the STORMS ARE BREWING LP. With distribution in place, posters, flyers, stickers everything already prepared ready to go, it all looked like it was gonna be smooth sailing. A few weeks before release, the distributor decided to change the format of the release and instead of the original planned tracks complete with instrumental & accapellas, they now wanted remixes. They also said that if the remixes were not added on, the record would never see the light of day; so with hands tied before the project began, the first major problem now appeared. Blade was never fully happy with the situation but went along with it on the condition that the remixes would be the b-side, which also took some arguing to achieve, but finally got there. Two weeks later the album was released, and soon after the distributor declared bankruptcy and closed for business.
With no stock, all the posters wasted, everything going wrong all in one foul swoop, BLADE's only real option for now was to press this limited edition single as a white label and spray each one individually to save costs, but also to give each buyer an authentic feel. No one record is similar to the next therefore giving each record it's own unique history. BLADE was also seen at some shows spraying these for whoever wanted them right there on the spot, along with the occasional signing of some unfortunate young lady that asked for his autograph, the photo of which can be seen in the photo gallery, CLUB 2K, PENZANCE!!
SCREAM was originally written and recorded as a demo in 1996.
