LYRICAL MANIAC (EP)
This was BLADE's first official release. After years of trying to find himself a recording deal, he finally decided to go it alone. With production from 2000 ADEE & MASTERMIX this went on to be a classic.
Originally sold on the streets with a little help from a few friends, one of whom went on later to be his hype man, the man we all came to know as MR. LEX, it later went on to be picked up by a record shop in Lewisham, South London, who after hearing the record decided to start a record label. This was the birth of RAW BASS and LYRICAL MANIAC was the first record released on the label.
There are, however, 10 copies of the original press on 691 RECORDS (before the word "INFLUENTIAL" even came into play). BLADE was personally offered £400 for this and the trainers he wore on the cover which at the time were the only footwear he had which also happened to be tore to shreds. He gave the trainers to the guy free of charge but refused to sell his only copy. In return he got given a free pair of "new" trainers the next morning, which in all honesty were desperately needed. As it happens the guy who was given those trainers just happens to be a member of the forums on this site and who has continued to support BLADE over the years but wishes to remain anonymous.
